Mo Rocca Spends 5 Minutes with Clay Aiken

Whether you watch American Idol religiously, or just watch people embarrass themselves in the audition rounds, the name Clay Aiken is likely to ring a bell.

The singer, who narrowly missed winning the second season of American Idol, sat down with Mo Rocca to talk about everything for his love for restaurant chain Benihana to what he’d be doing if he weren’t — to quote Mo — “wildly famous.”

Clay, who is currently promoting his fourth studio album, On My Way Here, also talked about his fans — the aptly self-titled Claymates — and the traits they share.

Check the video to hear what Clay had to say, and if you want to know more about the singer, check out his Web site.

Mo Rocca Spends 5 Minutes with Bebe Neuwirth

There’s a reason we go to a doctor, and not say, our next door neighbor,* when we are sick. It’s the same reason our Mo Rocca went to Bebe Nuewirth while preparing for his upcoming cabaret show, Mo Rocca ‘Cross America — Bebe knows cabaret!

Mo Rocca spent 5 Minutes with the Tony (and Emmy) award-winning actress and she gave Mo some tips on how to perfect his performance of Don Ho’s “Tiny Bubbles,” which he performs in both English and Hawaiian, no less.

In addition to Bebe’s watchful eye, Mo gets some moral support from a certain Today Show personality (and native Hawaiian).

So here’s to the golden moon,
And here’s to the silver sea,
But most of all a toast to you and me

And by “toast,” we mean video. Enjoy.

*provided said neighbor is not, in fact, a doctor.

Mo Rocca Spends 5 Minutes with Bob Balaban

Continuing his weekly tradition of meeting with famous New York faces, Mo Rocca spent five minutes with Bob Balaban. You may not recognize his name, but you’ll recognize his face — in addition to being an Academy Award-nominated writer/director, he’s a well known character actor. And as it turns out, he’s quite a character.

He and Mo met up in a Bridgehampton diner/candy shop to discuss life in the Hamptons — among other things, like the decline of maraschino cherry and difficult facial expressions.

Watch the video to see what Bob has to say.

Mo Rocca Spends 5 Minutes with Simon Doonan

This week, Mo Rocca spent five minutes with a prominent member of New York’s fashion community. That’s right, Mo did a little window shopping with Barney’s Creative Director Simon Doonan.

For any of you who aren’t familiar with Simon’s work, having him inspect your window display is like having Martha Stewart inspect your Thanksgiving turkey.

The two also discuss Simon’s latest book, Eccentric Glamour. And trust us, if anyone knows glamour it’s Simon Doonan.

Mo Rocca Spends 5 Minutes with Marky Ramone

This week, Mo Rocca spends five minutes with a member of iconic punk rock band, The Ramones, and we couldn’t be more excited.

And what better way to spend five minutes with a certified rock star then to watch contestants compete for rock (or R&B, or country et. al) stardom on American Idol?

Watch to see what Marky thinks about the show and its contestants. Also, rock out in the comment section — tell us what part of New York City Marky Ramone hails from (hint: it isn’t Forest Hills, Queens, where the band originally formed).

Altogether now: Twenty, Twenty, Twenty, Twenty, Twenty Four hours to goooooo…..

Mo Rocca Spends 5 Minutes with Martha Stewart

This week, Mo Rocca paid a visit to the set of The Martha Stewart Show to honor the show’s 500th episode.

Martha Stewart epitomizes the word crafty, but it turns out our Mo Rocca is quite dexterous himself. They say you should never forget where you came from, and Mo honored the home and garden mogul with a few handmade gifts that will surely remind Martha of her Northeastern roots.
